"Doug Stone: The Acoustic Sessions"
Featuring 10 of Doug's biggest hits, reimagined into stripped-down acoustic versions.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Celebrating 32 years in the music business, Doug Stone, one of country music's finest balladeers, is set to introduce a project that will be a first for him- THE ACOUSTIC SESSIONS (Stone Age Records)--due Sunday, January 23, 2022. Produced by Nashville icon Buddy Hyatt, the 10-track CD will showcase acoustic versions of Stone's biggest 90's country smashes "I'd Be Better Off (in a Pine Box)", "In a Different Light", "A Jukebox with a Country Song", "Too Busy Being in Love", "Why Didn't I Think of That", "I Never Knew Love", and others that have secured his legendary status over time. Even now, 32 years later, his lonesome sound and unmistakable vocals shine through and prove that Stone is at the top of his game once again. The tracks were recorded at Hyatt Studios in Hendersonville, TN and spotlight veteran Nashville session musicians on acoustic guitar tracks & backing harmony vocals.
"I always thought what a thrill it would be to get the opportunity to step back into the vocal booth and give fresh spins on these songs that have led me on such an incredible journey," Stone said. "I never recorded a song I didn't believe in 100% and I think that has resonated with the fans. When you sing these songs as long as I have, you find that over the years you've made changes and the songs have adapted into something new. 2020 brought with it certain challenges, but it afforded us many unique opportunities to play acoustic shows. I did a lot of private events just me and my guitar. People love the raw uniqueness of it. Hearing me tell stories and sing the songs just as I hear them. There's been something very special about that. It's easy to hide behind a backing band at times when you've got your live show put together. When it's just you and a guitar, there's nowhere to hide. I'm proud to show that on this project."
Doug Stone's pure country sound continues to have impacts on today's new wave of country artists. The "90s Country" resurgance has been prevalent the last several years, and it's only expected to grow thanks to artists like Stone still out on the road and producing new material. Stone plays nearly 100 dates a year nationally. He has four platinum albums, five gold albums, 8 No. 1 singles, 15 Top 10 singles, and is RIAA Certified at over 10,000,000 albums sold. Doug Stone: the Acoustic Sessions, is his 16th album release and will be available through Stone's online store (https://dougstone.com/store) and for purchase at his shows. ($20)
